A Ford used by Steve McQueen in the race car film "Le Mans" became the most expensive American car ever sold at auction on Friday, according to RM Auctions. The 1968 Ford GT 40 (a similar version of which is pictured above) sold for a record $11 million at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Aug. 19. 2012
