I really really want one!!!
By my shit math skills if I assume the 400 mile range version would cost about $100,000. For a 72 month loan at 2% would be
$1600 a month payments
It would cost me in excess of $1000 a month increase to what I am paying on my current car (gas included)

To afford it I would have to increase my pay by about $10 an hour just to get enough after deductions to cover the extra $1000 Rivian payment. If you figure my annual pay raise have averages about $1-$2 I would have to wait 5 years. Pretty close to possible.

Better plan would be to find a job that allows me to keep my current hourly rate but in a state with much lower state tax and housing that is 50% cheaper than what I am currently paying. That would make this very do-able. The possibility gets even better if I am willing to settle with the 200 mile version at $70000.

Wonder how much the price will change between now and then given they may be in competition with a Tesla Pickup. Allow Wonder how soon a used one will be available and at what cost?

Have you considered a life of crime, at all? You could smuggle contraband like single use straws and plastic shopping bags.

Maybe you need a cheaper addiction. Crystal meth, or Faberge eggs....

We would all be better off if the giants would stop eating the competition imho

REALITY

I think the whole EV game is costing them too much money. $500 million is probably a drop in the ocean when it comes to developing a new car and an easy leg up for the big boys.
