in more ways than 1. I read up on this and FOX didn't want to air the first episode because it was too character driven... so they aired 103 as 101.
101 & 102 was Serenity
Fox aired some of the episodes out of the intended order. The 2nd episode, "The Train Job" was aired as the pilot instead of the episode, "Serenity" as Fox thought it was unsuitable. They also didn't air 3 out of the 14 episodes. Fox aired the episodes in this order: 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 4, 5, 9, 10, 14, 1. The episodes, 11-13 were unaired.

guess by the dropped episodes it was the anti-war message they diddnt like > 2002-2003 most likely not a good time for the network when your country is invading Iraq
