The delegations parade in alphabetical order according to the language of the host country, except for Greece, which leads the parade, and for the host country, which brings up the rear.

Greece marches first, and the host nation marches last. So, here is a follow up trivia question: What if Greece is the host nation - as in Athens 2004?

Greece is always first? I know thats where the first one was, but it seems a bit odd we keep giving the nod to Greece.

From what i can remember of the 2004 Olympics and since Greece was the host nation, they went last, sending only their flag with the weightlifter Pyrros Dimas as the flag bearer into the stadium at the beginning of the parade, and the athletes themselves at the end of it.
