Here’s a look inside a cryogenic LNG tank of the 160,000 cbm LNG carrier, Lobito. The photos were taken during a recent visit by Teekay Board Members while the ship was in dry dock in Ferrol, Spain.

Delivered in 2011, Lobito was the third of four similar ships built at Samsung Heavy Industries for joint owners NYK LNG, Mitsui & Co. and Teekay Corporation. The four vessels were constructed for the Angola LNG trade and are under 20-year time charter agreements with Angola LNG Supply Services.
When delivered, the vessels were the first in the Teekay fleet to be Tri Fuel Diesel Electric (TFDE), capable of burning heavy fuel oil, diesel, or natural gas. The vessels all feature the GTT Mark III LNG carrier containment system.

On the day of the tour, the Lobito was celebrating 1,393 days without lost time injury.
