At first I thought, yeah i've had these emails before, 'you've inherited 3 million...etc etc...

I mean how would this work over the internet? > pics or it never happened?

Would you donate? is there that much trust left on the internet?

81% burnt lady needs a lot of money to stay in hospital, Please donate

81% of the body burned with 3rd degree burns, she is literally toast. That's less than 20% of the body to take skin off to cover the other 81%. And we don't have viable non-donor means of creating skin, not yet.

not to sound harsh, but so fucking what?

It's not my problem, and if it was I certainly wouldn't be begging on facefuck, I'd be digging out my insurance policy and giving them a ring.

I wouldn't trust a mere Facebook page or email.

Submitted the link to facecrooks to see what they say.

Bytey is right, tho. Wasted money, and horrific pain if she survives very long.

Hi All,

I'm managing the page which is being spoken about here.

I agree with bradpitt that "pics or it never happened". So have just updated some pics from the hospital. Also have put up a scanned copy of her job application we had recieved from the recuitment agency. Have also posted a video of her in the ICU, along with contact number of the hospital, so that if anyone still doubts the authenticity and they can call the hospital for further verification.

way to make me feel bad.... number 1.

Well obviously I'm a dick now, and offering apologies is the way forward.

But have you not got insurance for your workers? Dude, harsh sounding or not, shame on you for not having sufficiant cover for those in your charge.

I hope she recovers from her injuries, but if they really are that bad, she might be better to be allowed to die. A life of suffering is no life.

tbh I would have said exactly the same things dj (very nearly put it in the thread), and insurance is a must for both the employer and employees benifit as this shows.

thoughts go out to Azeb, truly hope she recovers.

This is an interesting technology. But yeah, even then 80% is a lot of skin to replace.

From the FB page...

15-07-12, 6.20am, an explosion due to gas leak in kitchen resulted in 81% 3rd degree burns to my maid. Need help in arranging funds for her medical treatment.

Your maid?!?!?!?!?! How cheap are maids in this part of the world? Over here, if you have a maid, you can probably afford the medical bills.

Sorry. I don't buy it. Something is wrong. Call it a hunch.

@aion_z
Instead of 'hunching' or 'speculating', why don't you pick up the phone, spend a few bucks (clearly it doesn't look like you're gonna donate any so borrow a phone!) and call the hospital? If I am not wrong, the latest status update on the FB page has mentioned the hospital phone numbers as well.
If this does not suffice, I am not sure what does? Photos from the morgue? Videos of her cremation?
I sympathize with you and hope someday you realize the value of life as much as that African woman on deathbed with 80% burns and her family!

Ok, what are with people randomly signing up just to post on this?

The internet is full of fraud, it has always been. People are going to be skeptical. Even if this is 100% true, there are better places to seek help than a small online community or even Facebook...

Better sources of charity would be (in order) family, friends, church, local charities, local citizens and when those are exhausted (and you have a firm base of support) total strangers on the internet. It may even be possible in Dubai that she could offset her medical costs if she cannot pay them... and if she dies (which is unfortunately very likely) then unless you signed something to agree to pay for her care or are liable for her death, you are not likely to have to.

Also, why is her family not the main source of outreach?

@netviking. Right. I won't. I'll be honest. I'm unwilling to call a number that could be set up. Quaketem is spot on about fraud on the net. Documents can be faked, a photo, there is such a thing as prosthetic makeup. If the plea is legit, hell... Dubai is a rich country with resources to help charity cases because of the high cost of healthcare. Also, if the help was employed via agency, why was insurance not part of the contract?

So I guess the answer seems to be good luck but no, you cannot have any of our money.....

The phone numbers for the hospital check out.

I'm still not sending a red cent (or a wooden nickle either, for that matter...)

Fair enough. My only point was not to discredit the story based on a hunch. Make an informed decision if it is fact or fraud. The choice to donate or not is entirely personal. And no one can force you to do that. Looks like the local newspaper also reported the incident.

Here's a thought. Take a legit story and milk it for its worth. Register at a social networking site or two under a pseudonym, appeal to the good nature of others and kaching! Sick? Yeah. Hell, yeah. Possible? Oh, frikkin hell yeah.
