I cook it twice every couple of weeks (freeze the second batch) with different meats, tastes great with beef, chicken or pork

Leeks are good! If you like onions then you'll like leeks.
Added a can of tomatoes to the initial stewing stage. I think it will make a good variation.
It's strange but I find when I add tomatoes to something like a stew it ruins it. Makes it too sweet and then it doesn't taste right.
A good glug of red wine in the beef one always helps
