Looks pretty decent. But why make him a whispy Batman-sound-alike? Nobody needs to EVER sound like Bale again, for the love of Christ!
HOCKEY PANTS!

I was curious up until I saw the 3D bit.
That's without sound of course. Too lazy to go get my headset.

The 3D is still being treated as pure gimmick. I was a bit put off by it, but have become so used to it from the past year or so with owning a 3DS and seeing about the last 4 out of 6 movies this way. It's only cool if done right, and I'd be willing to bet the only reasonable 3D will be from those Matrix slow-mo shots(REALLY?!? We're still doing that?) and the occasional "ZOMG missles coming right at me!" business.
Until non-campy pure horror takes advantage of the tech, it will remain as it is..."Step right up and see the amazing, stupendous, incredible world in three dimensions...."

I cannot see 3D. Going to see any 3D movie would be a colossal waste of both my time and money.

I like 3D, but I agree it's a waste for a lot of movies.
In the past year, the one movie that should have been in 3D, "Red Tails," unfortunately wasn't.

i dunno about it tbh.. its still not the dredd as envisaged by 2000ad.. and they've ruined the lawmaster to the point that somebody really should be flayed to within an inch of their lives.. teh wankers...
i still think judge minty will blow it out of the water (if it ever gets made/finished..) cuz (for meh) this *is* exactly how dredd should look...
now.. if only somedoy would make a decent Slaine movie as well.. /sigh

I know the Dredd comics came before the Raid movie. But I never read one where they climbed various floors in a high rise while fighting the minions of a crime lord who all lived in the building. I also looked through the Judge Dredd history and notes on the production of the film. It states that the characters are based on the comics, but it doesn't state it is based on any of the story lines from the comics. I can also not find any references to the film makers using anything from the comics but characters.
The two movie trailers look almost identical, and the Raid movie was made first. So as far as these two movies are concerned, they look extremely alike. Here is a review from I AM Rogue about their impressions:
Okay, slo-mo aside, the story limits its scope by taking place entirely in a building controlled by drug lord Ma-Ma Madrigal, with Judges Dredd and Anderson trapped, surrounded by hostile forces looking to collect a bounty on their heads. With no way out, these law enforcement officials must go up, battling their way to the top floor and taking out the seemingly untouchable crime lord who rules from on high. The plot is very much familiar to anyone who saw Gareth Evans' incredible, ass-kicking Indonesian actioner The Raid, released in America as The Raid: Redemption earlier this year. It's pretty much the same, but with the proportions jacked up. Madrigal's announcement over the PA feels very, very similar to Tama's in The Raid.
So yeah, I still stand by my remark that the movie appears to be an American version of the Raid film, set in the Dredd Universe.

I thought it was from one I read years ago, but nope. Okay, I stand corrected

Hey Mark, looks like the two movies were in production at almost the same time. Except Dredd starting filming in the 4th quarter of 2010, and The Raid in May 2011. So the plot for Dredd must have been finalized prior to filming and it just happens to be a concept both writers thought of.
Since The Raid was shot in Indonesia and the plot to Dredd (which was shot in South Africa) wasn't released to the public, I doubt either production borrowed ideas from the other.
So I in fact stand corrected.

Thanks! Makes me feel a bit better than this film that really doesn't like that great anyway! lol

Many scripts are sold to multiple companies(or slightly modified to avoid legal issues) and the result is 2 almost identical films.
eg:
The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)
The Day the Earth Stopped (Video 2008)
