yeah, especially since we habe 1400 inutes on our plans that we share, and we only used 700+, so it would be cheaper for me of he called her. OK let's rephrase, cheaper for him as he is working this summer with a builder, and he will be paying me for this, lol

Perhaps it's time he discovered the joys of instant messaging.

Maybe you could explain him the no-sex-before-marriage rule...?

Got the daughter to South Africa while Rosie and I were there, and she used my phone, Rosie's phone to call her boyfriend. We made sure her phone did NOT work because even the texting charges would have been too much. So she talks on our phones. Not happy about that.

oh believe me we did, that's probably why he is texting, so he isn't in the room with her staring temptation in the pretty face, lol

we had the same problem for a phone we got for our neice. first month....$250...2nd month $300 .... 3rd month $350....we shut it off because she wouldn't learn. we originally did it as a favor for her, she moved out of a bad home situation at 17 and couldnt't get her own phone. when we told her about the extra charges, she said "what do you mean they charge for texts and ring tones?". LOL

kids.

Message boards are basically just group texting.

I personally hate talking on the phone. I text all the time with my friends and our conversations are usually something like:

1 - "Hey what are you doing?"

Me - "At the pool hall. Come have a beer."

1 - "Word. See you in a bit."

So much easier than stopping to answer a call and talking about it.

I also text, though not as much. I don't like to talk on the phone and reserve phone conversations for important folks like my sister and BFF and only sometimes since I don't like the phone. Everyone else is lucky to get a text, I also don't email or write snail mail letters.

I prefer texting for simple stuff. I can read it at my leisure. Phone calls are inconveniently right now. Texting allows for contemplation.

I'll be in that boat soon enough. I'm going prepaid to see what the usage is like. It's probably either T-Mobile or AT&T Wireless. I also looked at Verizon, TracFone, Virgin mobile, and MetroPCS. They either didn't have a prepaid plan I liked, or none at all (MetroPCS). Putting the little nipper on my family plan would jack my bill by $30/mo and cause me to sign a new contract; that's a non-starter. Anyone have any other suggestions?

When I lived back in the states I texted all the time. 3000+ usually. But now that I'm in Germany I've opted for a cheapy prepaid phone and now texting just seems like a pain in the ass.

That's where I was going...
Net10
$50/ month unlimited use.
No contract so you canx whenever you want.
Buy the phone it usually comes with first months service preloaded... saving $50 right out of the gate.

sheesh, our cell phone bill is $200+ a month. The techno twins are ridiculous in their usage, but hey, my wife pays for the bill and my son pays for his share, so no skin off of my nose

Here in India, the phone network charges are very cheap!!

My bill comes for around = 21.4 USD!!
3G Connection for about = 3.4 USD for 500mb limit..!!

21.4 $ is the maximum!! (that's including the 3G connection)..

In indian currency, that's 1200 rupees for the whole bill, and 200 included rate for 3G connection for 500 mb....
