If you were to induct 25 bands into a new 'Rock Hall Of Fame' who would it be?

My List (In no particular order)

25. Minor Threat
24. Sonic Youth
23. Black Flag
22. Dead Kennedys
21. Rolling Stones
20. Yardbirds
19. Funkadelic
18. Pink Floyd
17. Genesis
16. Bob Dylan
15. Ramones
14. Sex Pistols
13. The Clash
12. Fugazi
11. They Might Be Giants
10. DEVO
09. The Runaways
08. New York Dolls
07. Bill Haley
06. Stevie Wonder
05. Kraftwerk
04. Ministry
03. T-Rex
02. Nirvana
01. Guns N Roses

All of them innovated a style... they weren't just re-booted copies of what came before. They actually progressed the genre of rock instead of simply riding an already existing wave.
This (to me) is what the HOF SHOULD BE. Madonna, The Beastie Boys, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Zeppelin, Buddy Holly, etc.... good, but nothing new.. too safe... too calculated
to simply marry an existing trend.

Top five people cheated out of the Hall.

I can't see how Jeff Lynn and The Cars feel cheated. I'd go with Boston over ELO and Television over the Cars.

Are we talking about RnR Hall of FAME or RnR Hall of CONTRIBUTION?

FAME: Madonna is famous, although I personally don't think she's a musician at all. She said herself that she doesn't know how to sing, she appeared in more movies than she has albums, blah-blah. IMHO her main occupation in life is to provoke people, to tear down the still alive taboos about sex and war and violence, and she's very good at it. Lady Gaga is continuing her work in the 21st century.

CONTRIBUTION: The Beatles started off as a boy-band, but managed to get out of that story in less than 4 years, fell apart some 3-4 years afterwards. But they still influence a whole new series of bands and solo artists. More than 40 years since they are no more, articles are still being written about pretty much any part of their career - The Beetlemania, Sgt Pepper's Summer of Love (of course, I have no doubt that I will never truly understand what all of that was about, since I wasn't born until 1980)...

Either way, the list of bands/solo artist I listen to most of the time is as follows (in more or less no order at all):

1. Black Sabbath
2. Iron Maiden
3. Metallica
4. Deep Purple
5. P!nk
6. The Beatles
7. The Rolling Stones
8. Elvis Presley
9. The Cardigans
10. Adele
11. Guns N' Roses
12. Led Zeppelin
13. Pink Floyd
14. Queen
15. Sex Pistols
16. The Ramones
17. Blondie
18. The White Stripes / Jack White
19. Oasis
20. The Sisers Of Mercy
21. Jimi Hendrix
22. Gary Moore
23. Judas Priest
24. The Clash
25. Riblja Corba*

--------------
* Riblja Corba - Serbian / ex YU RnR band. Maybe I should've put more of those on the list, but let it be...
