Just got the S3 last Saturday because the N900 is beginning to fuck up. (Its slow and the connector port is loose, making charging and data transfer difficult. I have more than 1,000 contacts and plan to export the phone data via VCF format then have it read by the S3.
However... Is there a better solution? What I can see happening here is that the S3 might separate one contact with multiple entries into different contacts with a single entry.
So. Help?

The Kies software might have an import option, if all else fails see if you can upload your contacts to Google, and they will auto sync with your phone
I saw that option on Samsung Kies & will attempt to try it. I dunno if I can trust Google with all that info.
Bluetooth or name card - should work without sim card

Import all the .vcf into your Gmail account, and sync from there.
That really is the easiest way to do it. I screwed up and entered some numbers on the phone without making sure they were part of my Gmail contacts. I just created .vcfs and emailed them to myself, then imported them. 1,000 is a bit much.
And by importing into Gmail, it will absolutely not make individual entries for each number.
