This is just a question, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I prefer Opera web browser for surfing.

When I'm at work, my office computers use only Windows IE. I don't like it. Clunky, slow, pain in the ass browser.

I don't have admin rights to install other browsers. Is there a portable type app that I can use on a flash drive that would allow me to use opera, or firefox even, without having to install completely? Or is this a 'pie in the sky' type of idea? I'm sure other people have the same problem.

I'm not trying to be coy, I've discussed the issue with my manager. our I.T. Dept. is understaffed, and underfunded with grumpy people, to bother to support other browsers. And they've locked up everytype of admin rights known to man. It's simply annoying to have to use IE when I am more productive with Opera/Firefox.

I've tried to import all my relevant website favorites from Opera into IE, but never have any success in that regard.

Any ideas or suggestions would be nice, thanks in advance.

Slow? Must be a version prior to 9. I recall 8 being slow but for me 9 booked right along. Although I am not aware if anything has changed recently. I've been out of touch for a while.

Chrome doesn't require administrative privileges. There is also a Portable Chrome out there.

I myself am using a portable Firefox Nightly (64-bit no less).

But after I format and install Windows 8 tomorrow, I'll be making the Nightly my installed version, and the release version will be a portable version.

And while I don't relish the thought of reinstalling the stupid software, I am relishing a fresh system without the bit rot that this current system has.
