Consumerist Is Against SOPA/PIPA And That's All We're Writing About Today
By consumerist.com on January 18, 2012 12:05 AM

The editorial staff of Consumerist would like to let you know that we have chosen to suspend our normal coverage so that we can bring you news, information, and opinion concerning the proposed SOPA/PIPA legislation and why Consumers Union, the advocacy arm of Consumer Reports and Consumerist, is against it. Inside is the letter we at Consumers Union, along with U.S. PIRG and the Consumer Federation of America, sent to several members of Congress on November 15th.

Under normal circumstances I'd be angry and against, and think to myself that it is up to the Americans to stop the erosion of their civil liberties and the freedom of their internet... and I am angry and against, but I'm also angry that one country can try to dictate its laws on the rest of the world!   If you'll excuse me fellow teotians from and in America, it isn't as if America can actually hold itself up and say that it is the shining bright perfect society that we should all aspire to emulate (though they seem to think they can) when we see the way that many 'ordinary' (please forgive my use of that term!) Americans are being thrown out of their homes, thown out of jobs, and all the other rather unsavoury aspects of life in 2012 America which are often left/swept under the carpet.

Don't get me wrong: I am not suggesting that any other country is any better!  We all have our problems, and we all are imperfect... which is the very reason that we don;t have thr right to dictate to the rest of the world!
