Hello, my name is James Thomas, and in January of 2012 I set off from Edinburgh in Scotland with the aim of walking around the world to reach its antipodal point of Dunedin in New Zealand. This journey will take me across 3 continents, through 16 countries and over 20,000 km. Along the way I'm raising money and awareness for the worlds leading childrens charity UNICEF by talking to schools, universities, and faith groups, encouraging them not just to donate their money but also their time to those less fortunate than themselves.
Before beginning this journey I sold everything I owned. I self-finance this expedition with the proceeds of those sales and my own savings. 100% of all donations recieved for UNICEF go directly to UNICEF. I'm a UNICEF volunteer and I recieve no payment from UNICEF for the work I do for them.
This journey will be a huge learning curve and I have no idea what to fully expect, except that I have to embrace the unexpected. It will challenge my view of the world and be a test of physical endurance but I know it will be a worthwhile adventure!
