I've worked on top of tanks and derricks in the oilfield and hanging over live sewers for years, but even I'd have to second guess going on that job, especially with no real tie-off.

I remember watching the TV show "That's Incredible" when I was a kid, and one of the segments was about a man who would climb up the antenna of the Empire State Building for maintenance and repair. It is perhaps the ballsiest job in the world. To this day people still have to go up there.

at least those guys have safety lines, and could use the metal framing to secure safety latches as well. That I could handle. But, doing a free climb, while carrying a 30lb tool bag, and 2 brass balls between your legs...hell no.
