I don’t know about you, but I don’t want Albert Einstein to be my pilot. I want great flying professionals that are allowed to easily and quickly take control of a plane!

I want the smartest fucker the airlines can find flying my plane. But anyone who decides a career as a commercial pilot is a smart idea after the way airlines treat their employees cannot be the smartest people around. Granted they have to be smarter that average they seem to lack some judgment skills.

i think for a lot of people they do it simply for the kudos of being able to say that they are a pilot.. but the work itself must be pretty dire after the initial excitement has worn off.. 13 hours stuck in a room no bigger than a toilet, with two or three other people..

you can smell the stale stench of fart from here..

I don't even like being in any part of the plane. I can't stand the way air travel has become over the last 15 years.

I want Bruce Dickinson to be my pilot. He is clearly intelligent, talented, and a freaking pilot
Doesn't get any better than that.

As an Avionics Professional I disagree with the idea that a more complicated aircraft is harder to fly. Most of the electronics on an aircraft is designed to provide information to the pilot so that they can make correct and precise decisions. This takes the guess work out of where you are going, confusion from the weather and miscalculations on speed and altitude and angles while performing maneuvers.

However with an easier to fly aircraft comes some draw backs such as information overload, or malfunctions that are complicated by the speed of the computers or delays in action because of multiple step that have to be taken to interrupt the computer.

The real issue I see with the Avionics package is how well was it built, and how well was the design tested before and after it was deployed? How much work was put into not only determining how it works or how well it work but also how much testing was done to determine all the ways it can fail and the side effects of those failures. The failure part is the biggest challenge and because its not a quick or cheep process it is usually the one doesn't get completed correctly. The more complex the system the harder it is to determine how it will fail.

As for Trumptydumpty's tweet, again he is showing how much he is lacking in his understanding of anything including this If he was flying commercial he would not have a choice or maybe even know that Albert Einstein was flying the plane. And if Albert Einstein was flying it would be because he was trained and experienced to do so in addition to being smarter than the average pilot and would be perfectly capable.
